Standalone Mode vs WiFi Mode

Standalone Mode is a feature available only on MEATER Block and MEATER Pro XL that allows you to cook without needing a phone or tablet — everything is controlled directly on the unit.

Cooking with your MEATER Block or Pro XL in Standalone Mode is very similar to using the MEATER app, but with a few key differences.

  • No App Sync: Cook details, graphs, and temperature tracking will not be available in the MEATER app when using Standalone Mode.
  • Range Limited to Bluetooth Range: In Standalone Mode, the probes connect to the charger via Bluetooth, and the range cannot be extended with WiFi or MEATER Link.
    • Keep It Close: Bluetooth range can be limited depending on your cooking appliance. Keep the charger as close to the probes as safely possible. For more information on this, read the article Faraday Cages & MEATER Products.
    • Heat Warning: The charger can be damaged at temperatures above 140°F / 60°C. Be cautious when using it near high-heat cooking appliances, especially in hot outdoor conditions.

How to Start a Cook in Standalone Mode

  1. Turn on your device by pressing the power button on the MEATER Block or Pro XL screen.
  2. Select Mode: Use the device's control buttons to select "Standalone Mode"
