Unable to update your MEATER Block?

In order for us to offer the best support possible to our users, we have to ensure that the version of the app you are using matches the supported version of the firmware on your MEATER Block.

Our firmware updates for our products will mainly be comprised of bug fixes, so we enforce updating to ensure you get the best possible user experience when cooking with a MEATER product.

If you find yourself in a situation where your MEATER Block updates are continuing to fail then please follow the steps below:

Connecting to the right network

Make sure your mobile device and MEATER Block are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This should be the normal home network you use on your mobile device. The Block will not be able to connect over a guest network. It will also only operate over a 2.4GHz network, so if your router offers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, make sure both the Block and your mobile device are connected on the 2.4GHz network.

If you do find that you’re on a different network to your Block, simply put it into Wi-Fi Set Up Mode via the touchpad on the front. Then, follow the steps on the MEATER app to get it connected to the right one.

Weak signal

A weak connection to either your phone or router could interrupt the Block receiving the update. We recommend placing both your Block and phone next to your router during the update to avoid this.

Also, ensure you do not have any firewalls, anti virus programs, or VPNs that could be stopping your Block from connecting to your router or affecting its connectivity in any way.

Power

During an update, we recommend plugging the Block into a wired power source so it does not lose power. You can access the USB charging port by moving the metal stand on the Block outward, then simply plug it in with a phone charger into a wall socket.

If you have tried all of these steps but still can’t get the update to work, there is a workaround that uses your mobile data.

Using a mobile hotspot to update

You will need a mobile device with a data connection, which you can use to make a Wi-Fi hotspot. This is usually available through the Wi-Fi settings menu on the device, but it varies between manufacturers.

Once you have a hotspot set up, put your Block into Wi-Fi setup mode. To do this, enter the Block settings via the touchpad on the front of the Block and choose “Wi-Fi Set Up Mode”.

Then, connect a phone to the Wi-Fi hotspot, and use this to connect the Block to the hotspot via the MEATER app. Once both the phone and Block are connected to the hotspot, start the update.

As long as your mobile data is working, it should be able to download and install the update. Don’t worry, the size of the update file is very small and only uses a tiny amount of your data.

If you are still having problems after trying all the above steps, or are unable to use a mobile hotspot, please get in touch with us
