This guide explains how to connect and use the MEATER app with your Amazon Alexa smart home device.

 

Enabling the MEATER Skill on Alexa: Android Devices

IMPORTANT: The MEATER Skill for Amazon Alexa is not currently available for Android devices. If you try to integrate the MEATER skill with your Android device, you will see a message, as shown in the screenshot below, stating, Unable to link accounts. Your Alexa app needs an update.

Enabling the MEATER Skill on Alexa: iOS Devices

  1. Open the Alexa app on your iOS device.
    • Make sure you are logged into your Amazon account.
  2. Search for MEATER Skill.
    • Tap the menu icon and select Skills & Games.
    • Use the search bar to find the MEATER Skill.
  3. Enable the MEATER Skill.
    • Tap on MEATER Skill and then tap Enable to Use.
    • Log in to your MEATER account to link it with Alexa, using the same credentials as the MEATER app.
  4. Use MEATER with Alexa.
    • After linking, Alexa will try to discover your MEATER devices. If this does not happen automatically, say "Alexa, discover devices."
    • Use the following voice commands to check the status of your protein:
      • "Alexa, ask MEATER how my steak is doing."
      • "Alexa, ask MEATER for the current temperature of my chicken."
      • "Alexa, ask MEATER to set up a cook."

Troubleshooting Tips

  1. Ensure connectivity.
    • Make sure both your MEATER and Alexa devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    • Ensure the MEATER app is running, and the thermometer is paired and within range.
  2. Check for firmware updates for both your MEATER probe and the Alexa app.
  3. Check permissions to ensure the MEATER skill has the necessary permissions to access your thermometer data.
  4. If you are having connection issues, restart the MEATER app, your iOS device, and the Alexa device.

Using Alexa with the MEATER App

  1. You must set up a cook in the MEATER app for Alexa to work.
  2. When both are connected, you can ask Alexa:
