About MEATER Pro Range

MEATER Pro has a Bluetooth repeater built in to the charger, and it uses Bluetooth 5.2 Coded PHY Long Range. This gives you more range than our first-generation MEATER Plus, and creates a signal source outside of the effects of your cooking appliance. Many cookers will still impact the probe-to-charger range, so the charger should always stay as close as safely possible to the appliance during cooks.

In open air with no obstructions, the average Bluetooth range of MEATER Pro is 250ft/75m, but there are some variables that can influence the actual range you'll see during cooks:

  • Any obstructions between the charger and your phone/tablet can limit the range. This includes things like walls, closed doors, and furniture.
  • If you have other Bluetooth or WiFi devices that are currently broadcasting, even these can disrupt the signal of your MEATER Pro.

Steps to Identify Range Limitations

If you're concerned that you're not getting the range you should be, we have a couple of things to look for.

1. Check for Damage

If the probe is damaged, this can have an effect on the range and signal stability. See if any part of the probe seems loose, or is able to wiggle or twist at all. If any part of the probe moves, please contact our Customer Support team right away.

2. Test Range

If you want to check whether you're getting the range you should be, try the following tests, ideally somewhere outside with no obstructions:

  1. Leave the probe on a non-metal surface, then slowly walk away with your mobile device and MEATER Pro charger, and note how far you can go before the LED on the charger starts blinking red.
    • For best results, stand the probe on its flat end, and try to hold your charger out to the side or slightly behind you so your body doesn't interfere with the signal.
  2. Leave both the probe and charger on the same surface, then slowly walk away with your mobile device, and keep track of the distance you can get before the probe grays out in the MEATER app.
  3. Leave your probe and charger right next to each other with your mobile device a few feet away, and see if the connection drops off within 20 minutes. Try to keep a rough record of the number and frequency of disconnections if they happen.
    • If you start a mock cook first and have your sound on, you should get audible alerts when you disconnect so you don't have to watch the app too carefully.

Once you've done these tests, reach out to our Customer Support team and let your agent know the results.
