About the LED

The LED on your MEATER Pro charger has 2 purposes:

  • When you put in a AAA battery or take the probe out of the charger, the light behavior tells you the status of the battery:
    • If the LED is solid green for 3 seconds, the AAA battery is still good and the charger is working.
    • If there's no LED, the AAA battery is drained or there's an issue with the charger.
  • When the probe is out of the charger, the blinking light lets you know whether or not the probe is connected.

How to Fix This Issue

If the LED doesn't light up at all, we have a few things you can try.

1. Check for Battery Tab (New Out of Box Products Only)

To keep the included AAA battery from draining before it gets to you, our products are shipped with a white tab that stops the battery from making contact with the charging pins. If the tab folds or breaks, it can be hard to see, so you might need to take out the battery to find and remove it.

2. Check Battery Orientation

Double-check that the battery is in the right way, with the positive terminal pointing down.

3. Adjust Charging Pins

In some cases, the pins on either side of the AAA battery are just slightly too far apart, which means the battery can't make a proper connection. These pins can be adjusted by taking out the battery, then gently moving the pins inward, either with your fingers or with tweezers. When you put the battery back in, it should fit snugly, and you should be able to see the terminals touching the pins.

4. Change Battery

Usually, when the green light stops coming on, it just means that the AAA battery needs to be replaced, so try putting in a new one. This may even be possible for brand new products, because in rare cases, the battery that comes with the product might be a dud.

5. Check for Probe Issues

There can be situations where the probe itself is causing a short in the charger. Try the steps below to see if this might be the case:

  1. Take both the probe and the AAA battery out of the charger.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. With the probe still out of the charger, put in a new AAA battery, and check if there's a 3-second green LED right when the battery is inserted.

If the light still doesn't come on at this point, the issue is most likely with the charger. If the light does come on, follow the steps below to see if the probe is causing the issue:

  1. Put the probe back in the charger.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Take the probe out of the charger again to see if the LED still lights up green.

Next Steps

If you've still got a green light, you should be good to go! Once the charger is working again, you'll most likely need to let the probe charge for 15 minutes before it's ready for a cook.
