Live Activities is now active within the MEATER App. If you are using a recently purchased and updated iPhone, you will be able to view your cook data via the iOS Dynamic Island feature.
What are Dynamic Island and Live Activities?
Live Activities is an iOS feature that allows you to see information from your apps when your phone is locked or your app is minimized.
Dynamic Island is a more flexible way to interact with apps, taking the form of a lozenge shape that appears at the top of the device screen. You can use it to see the internal and ambient temperature data during cooks. The Dynamic Island displays information generated by another recently introduced feature called Live Activities that provides this information.
What devices does Dynamic Island work with?
Below is a list of all iOS devices that can use the Dynamic Island feature.
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15

- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Can you still use Live Activities on other devices?
This depends on the model. Live Activities will run on iOS devices running version 16.1 or later. If your device doesn’t support Dynamic Island, the live activity will still display on the lock screen. Please see the image below as an example:

Troubleshooting and understanding Dynamic Island issues
Here are some common questions you may have regarding the Dynamic Island and Live Activities and how to address them.
"I've disabled Dynamic Island, but it keeps coming bac.k"/"I've lost the cook temperature readings from my home screen"
- If you believe that you have deactivated Dynamic Island, it's likely that you swept it off your screen by swiping it away during the cook
- It will appear again during your next cook
- There is no way to permanently disable it.
"I've finished my cook, but my cook temperatures are still showing on my home screen."
- Make sure you fully finish or cancel the cook. You should see "Tap to set up cook" if it's completely finished, which will dismiss the Live Activity (from the Dynamic Island as well) properly.
- If you don't want to finish the cook, you can swipe on the Dynamic Island to dismiss a particular Live Activity
"I closed my MEATER app, but I'm still seeing temperature readings on my home screen."
-
The Live Activity and Dynamic Island are independent from the MEATER app, so even if you quit the app, the Live Activity will still persist
-
When you are connected over MEATER Cloud, app functionality turns off when running in the background, and we maintain the cook data in a different way
-
If the app is closed but another app that uses Live Activities is open, the data may still appear, so you should try closing that app
- If no other apps are using the Dynamic Island, you should be able to swipe it away and the details should disappear
-
If none of the above helps, you should try rebooting your phone, as Live Activities are not designed to show at startup
"The Dynamic Island/the lock screen of my iOS device is showing incorrect temperatures, but they are correct in the app."
- The temperature shown by Live Activities may vary from that shown in the app
- The quickest way to get it to update is to unlock your phone and go into the app
- You should also go to Settings MEATER Live Activities and check that More Frequent Updates is active (see Can Dynamic Island be disabled? What about Live Activities?)
