How do I take care of my MEATER Pro XL?

What's in This Article?

We designed MEATER to make your life easier, and simple maintenance is part of that. We've just got a few tips to share, and these should help you have a long and happy relationship with your MEATER Pro XL.

Safety

  • Always insert the probe in meat past the minimum depth notch, but not all the way to the black ceramic piece.
  • Make sure not to go over the probe's temperature limits:
    • The internal sensors have a limit of 221°F / 105°C.
    • The ambient sensor has a limit of 1000°F / 550°C.
  • Pull the probe straight out of the meat, and don't wiggle it back and forth.
    • If the probe is stuck, you can push it in a little bit to loosen it before pulling it out.
    • If necessary, you can gently twist the probe.
  • Whenever possible, try to hold the probe by the metal shaft instead of the wider ambient section.
Let the probe cool down on its own before washing it.
  • Keep the charger away from any kind of moisture or extreme heat.

Basic care

  • Make sure the probe is clean and shiny after every time you cook:
    • For most cooks, you can just wash the probe with hot, soapy water and the rough side of a sponge.
    • If the probe is extra dirty, scrub it with baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) and water on a scouring pad.
  • Keep the probe docked in the charger, with the pointy end facing up whenever you're not using it.
