Probe Not Charging - MEATER Block

What's in This Article?

This article explains how to troubleshoot a MEATER Block probe that isn't charging. Probes charge in the bamboo charger, which must have power. Steps include checking for damage, verifying battery status via the app, cleaning cooking residue from the probe and charger contacts, ensuring correct probe orientation, and switching charging slots. If issues persist, contact Customer Support.

About Probe Charging

MEATER probes charge while docked in the bamboo charger, and the charger is turned off. They should always be stored in the charger when not in use so they can be ready for your next cook.

  • We designed the probes so that they won't overcharge or consume too much power from the charger, so you don't need to worry about always leaving the probes stored between cooks.

In order for the probes to charge, there needs to be power to the charger, and you can check this by pressing the power button on the touchpad. If the charger screen doesn't come on, check out No Power to MEATER Block Charger.

Steps to Get the Probe to Charge

If you can't get one or more of the probes to charge at all, we have a few things you can try.

1. Check for Damage

See if any part of the probe seems loose, or is able to wiggle or twist at all. If any part of the probe moves, please contact our Customer Support team.

2.Checking Battery status.

Quick Check: Before proceeding with probe not charging troubleshooting, verify whether the issue is related to the Dock's battery or the Probe itself.

  1. Remove the probe from the dock and open the app.
  2. Tap the Initials icon, then select My Devices

  1. Check My Paired Extension Devices to view the battery level indicators.

  1. Confirm the battery status of each device.
3. Clean Probe (Products Already Used for Cooks Only)

Cooking residue is the #1 reason for probe charging and connection concerns. This might look like obvious smoke buildup from the grill, or it might even be invisible grease polymerization. Any type of residue can block the contact between the probe and charger, which means the probe battery will be drained and the probe won't be able to connect for the next cook.

If you've got a probe that previously worked but won't charge anymore, try the following steps:

  1. Scrub the probe well with a scouring pad, or a mixture of baking soda and water.
    • Pay special attention to the flat end.
    • The stainless steel parts of the probe should be completely silver when you're done.
  2. Wipe the contact point on the charger with a dry cloth in case any residue transferred over.
  3. Dry the probe completely before charging.
  4. Let the probe charge for at least 8 hours.

4. Check Probe Orientation

Make sure the probe is docked in the charger correctly, with the sharp end pointed up and the flat end aligned with the charger's contact point.

5. Switch Charging Spaces

In rare cases, your probe may not charge or connect properly due to a charging contact issue in the dock. To check if this could be the cause, move the probe to a different charging slot, allow it to charge for 5 minutes, and then try connecting it again.

Next Steps

If your probe still won't charge after trying everything above, please contact our Customer Support team for further help.
