This article provides guidance on troubleshooting a MEATER Pro Duo probe that isn't charging. The probes should be charged in the bamboo charger and stored there when not in use. If the probe isn't charging, try checking for any damage, cleaning cooking residue from both the probe and charger contacts, switching charging slots, and allowing it to charge for at least 15 minutes. If the problem continues, please reach out to Customer Support for further assistance.
About Probe Charging
MEATER probes charge while docked in the bamboo charger, and they should always be stored in the charger when not in use so they can be ready for your next cook.
We designed the probes so that they won't overcharge or consume too much power from the charger, so you don't need to worry about always leaving the probe stored between cooks.
In order for the probes to charge, there needs to be power to the charger, and you can check this by looking for a 3-second green flash on the respective charger LED when you take the probe out of the charger. If the LEDs don't light up at all, check out No LED on MEATER Pro Duo Charger.
Steps to Get the Probe to Charge
If you can't get one or both of the probes to charge at all, we have a few things you can try.
1. Check for Damage
See if any part of the probe seems loose, or is able to wiggle or twist at all. If any part of the probe moves, please contact our Customer Support team right away.
2. Clean Probe (Products Already Used for Cooks Only)
Cooking residue is the #1 reason for probe charging and connection concerns. This might look like obvious smoke buildup from the grill, or it might even be invisible grease polymerization. Any type of residue can block the contact between the probe and charger, which means the probe battery will be drained and the probe won't be able to connect for the next cook.
If you've got a probe that previously worked but won't charge anymore, try the following steps:
- Scrub the probe well with a scouring pad, or a mixture of baking soda and water.
- Pay special attention to the flat end.
- The stainless steel parts of the probe should be completely silver when you're done.
- Wipe the contact point on the charger with a dry cloth in case any residue transferred over.
- Dry the probe completely before charging.
- Let the probe charge for at least 15 minutes.

3. Switch Charging Spaces
In rare cases, probes may not charge or connect due to a poor charging contact on the dock. To see if this might be the case, move the probe to the other charging space, let it charge for 5 minutes, then see if it can connect.
