No MEATER Cloud Connection (X on Dock Screen) - MEATER Pro XL

What's in This Article?

This article covers what to do if MEATER Pro XL is unable to connect over the MEATER Cloud service.

What No MEATER Cloud Connection Looks Like

MEATER Pro XL has built-in MEATER Cloud capability, so you should be able to monitor cooks over mobile data when you get outside your WiFi range.

If you can't connect over MEATER Cloud, you may notice a couple of different things:

  • Your phone or tablet will disconnect from the MEATER Pro XL dock outside of the WiFi network range.
  • Instead of the expected behavior of a clear cloud symbol on the built-in screen, you may see one of these other symbols:
    • Dots in the cloud mean MEATER Pro XL is still trying to connect.
    • An X in the cloud means MEATER Pro XL failed to connect over MEATER Cloud.
    • No cloud symbol means that the MEATER Cloud setting is turned off.

Why No MEATER Cloud Connection Happens

There are a few possible reasons your product may not be connecting over mobile data:

  • You aren't signed into a MEATER Cloud account.
  • The MEATER Cloud setting on MEATER Pro XL is turned off.
  • The MEATER Pro XL dock isn't within range of the probes and/or the WiFi router.
  • Your phone/tablet isn't connected to WiFi.
  • You have a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or a firewall enabled, which can restrict MEATER Pro XL from connecting to the MEATER Cloud service.
  • There is a temporary outage with the MEATER Cloud service.

How to Fix No MEATER Cloud Connection

Try the following steps:

  1. Check that you're using the latest firmware version for MEATER Pro XL. If not, you can update it using the steps in the Updating Firmware article.
  2. Check that the MEATER Cloud setting on the MEATER Pro XL dock is switched on.
    • This setting can be found by pressing the settings button (the list icon) on the built-in touchpad while in WiFi mode, then scrolling down to "Cloud".
  3. Ensure that the MEATER Pro XL dock stays close enough to the probes and router.
  4. Check that your mobile device is connected to WiFi, and that there are no "Connected, no internet" errors appearing.
    • If there is a network issue, a reboot of the modem and router may fix it.
    • If rebooting doesn't work, contact your Internet Service Provider.
  5. Disable any VPNs or firewalls.
  6. Connect to a different WiFi network to rule out network restrictions.
  7. As a last resort, try the "Factory Reset" process found in the Reset Options article.
    • Make sure to return to this article for the next steps if this doesn't resolve the concern.

Next Steps

If you still can't connect over MEATER Cloud:

  • Check which Internet Service Provider you use.
  • Check the make and model of your router or access point.

Once you have the information above, contact MEATER Support for further review.
