Learn what to do if you're seeing a low battery warning for your MEATER Alpha Collection probe or charging dock (MEATER Original, MEATER Plus, MEATER SE, MEATER Block).
Your MEATER probe or charging dock may occasionally show a low battery warning. This article explains what to do depending on which device is affected.
Low Battery Warning - Probe
What you'll see
If your probe's battery is low, you'll see a warning in the app. On newer app versions, this appears as a banner at the top of the screen:
On older app versions, the same warning appears as a pop-up instead:
How to Fix It
- If you've cooked with the probe, make sure you've thoroughly cleaned the silver contact point on the ambient end. Leftover residue can prevent the probe from making proper contact with the dock.
- Make sure your dock has power — a fresh AAA battery for Original/Plus/SE, or a full USB charge for Block — and leave the probe docked for at least 2 hours.
- If the probe has been docked for 2 hours on a properly powered dock and the warning persists, check the probe for damage. Look for any part that wiggles or twists, and check for hairline cracks near the ceramic ambient end.
- If you don't see any damage, re-power the dock (new AAA battery for Original/Plus/SE, or reconnect USB for Block) and dock the probe again.
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Power-cycle the dock again before removing the probe.
- Open the app, tap the three dots in the upper right corner, and select My Devices to check your connected probes.
- If the battery level still shows as low, reach out to us for additional steps.
Low Battery Warning - Dock
What you'll see
If your dock's battery is low, you'll see a warning in the app. If the battery runs out completely, the app will let you know the dock is about to shut down:
Check which dock you have before following the steps below: MEATER Original, Plus, and SE use a single replaceable AAA battery, while MEATER Block has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges via USB.
How to Fix It - MEATER Original / Plus / SE
- Place a new AAA battery in the dock. If this doesn't fix the issue, continue with the steps below.
- Dock your probe, then remove the AAA battery from the dock.
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Once it's restarted, put the AAA battery back in the dock and remove the probe.
- Open the MEATER app.
- Scroll down and tap on the dock under My Paired Extender Devices.
- Check the battery level shown.
- If the battery level still shows as low, reach out to us for additional steps.
How to Fix It - MEATER Block
- Check that the dock is connected to a working USB power source and outlet, and that the cable is fully plugged in at both ends. Try a different cable or power source if you have one. If this doesn't fix the issue, continue with the steps below.
- Dock your probe, then disconnect the dock from USB power.
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Once it's restarted, reconnect the dock to USB power and remove the probe.
- Open the MEATER app.
