About the Screen
One of the key features of MEATER Block is that it has a built-in OLED display and touchpad. These have a few purposes:
- You can see the charger battery level, the probe connection status, the WiFi connection status, and the MEATER Cloud connection status on the screen.
- You can set up and monitor cooks in Standalone mode without needing to use your phone or tablet.
- You can view the product's firmware version and change the temperature scale between Celsius and Fahrenheit right in the built-in menu.
When the charger is working correctly and the AA batteries are still good, the screen will come on when you press the power button.
How to Fix This Issue
If the screen and touchpad aren't responsive at all, we have a few things you can try.
1. Check for Battery Tab
To keep the included AA batteries from draining in transit, our products are shipped with a white tab that stops the batteries from making contact with the charging springs. If the tab folds or breaks, it can be hard to see, so you might need to take out the batteries to find and remove it.
2. Check Battery Orientation
Double-check that the batteries are in the right way, following the directions in the battery compartment.
3. Change Batteries
Usually, when the charger stops powering up, it just means that the AA batteries need to be replaced, so try putting in new ones. This may even be possible for brand new products, because in rare cases, one or more of the batteries that come with the product might be duds.
4. Check for Probe Issues
There can be situations where one of the probes is causing a short in the charger. try the steps below to see if this might be the case:
- Take all 4 probes out of the charger and all 4 AA batteries out of the charger.
- Leave the charger without batteries for at least 10 minutes.
- With the probes still out of the charger, put in new AA batteries, and press the power button.
- We always recommend using standard alkaline batteries instead of rechargeable ones.
If the screen still doesn't come on at this point, the issue is most likely with the charger. If it does come on, follow the steps below to see if a probe is causing the issue:
- Turn the charger off.
- Put just one probe back in the charger.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Press the power button to see if everything still powers up.
- Repeat the steps above with the rest of the probes, one at a time.
Next Steps
If everything is still turning on, you should be good to go! Once the charger is working again, you'll most likely need to let the probes charge for 8 hours before they're ready for a cook.
If there's still no response from the charger, please Contact Us, and let your agent know the results of the tests above.
