Reasons Why Your MEATER Pro XL Enters Sleep Mode

When you use your Pro XL, you may see a message on the Pro XL’s touch screen that it will go to sleep after 15 minutes of use.

There are three reasons this might happen:

Reason and Cause Indicators
Inactivity: Your MEATER Pro XL has been left inactive and a cook has not been set up. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the Pro XL will go into power saving mode.

No active cook in the app or Cloud.

If using Standalone Mode, no active cook appears on the Pro XL screen.

Direct Probe Pairing: The cook has been set up, but the probe has paired directly to your smart device and not the MEATER Pro XL.

WiFi Network Issue: On very rare occasions, a network issue between your Pro XL and your Wi-Fi network can cause the Pro XL to not receive information from the app.

Determining Why Your MEATER Pro XL Entered Sleep Mode

1. Check for an Active Cook

Active cooks can be found in the MEATER app. If using your MEATER Pro XL in Standalone Mode, active cooks will appear on the Pro XL’s screen.

If no cook has been set up using either method, your device turned off due to inactivity because probes cannot be used to monitor temperature without setting up a cook.

2. Check for Direct Probe Pairing

Direct probe pairing means the probe has connected directly to your smart device instead of connecting to the charging block. When direct probe pairing occurs, your MEATER Pro XL does not recognize a cook, so it believes it has entered a state of inactivity.

To check for direct probe pairing:

  1. Press the three dots in the upper-right corner of the app.
  2. Select My Devices.
  3. Look at the icon next to the paired probes in the Device Details menu.

    • MEATER Pro XL Icon: Your probes are paired correctly to the MEATER Pro XL device. Continue to determine if there’s a network issue.
    • Smart Device Icon: This indicates direct probe pairing. Re-pair the probes to your Pro XL.

3. Check for WiFi Network Issues

When your MEATER Pro XL enters Sleep Mode due to a network problem, the grill icon on the Pro XL will not display, as seen in the image below. This indicates the app and your MEATER Pro XL are not communicating correctly over the WiFi network.

If your MEATER Pro XL is set up correctly and the grill icon does not show on the touchscreen next to the probe in use, this is likely a network issue.
