This guide explains what to do if your MEATER Block or MEATER Pro XL has a frozen screen and/or touchpad.
What This Looks Like
Freezing on MEATER Block and MEATER Pro XL can show up in a few different ways:
- The screen is off, but the LED still blinks, and there's a clicking noise when buttons are pressed.
- The screen is frozen on the same frame and won't change.
- The screen and/or LED is on, but the touchpad is unresponsive.
- The product is stuck in the middle of a process, like booting up or a firmware update, and it never resumes on its own.
This can happen due to a few different factors, like rare software-level behaviors or unexpected interactions between system components, but it's typically easy to resolve and doesn't point to a fault in the device itself.
How to Fix a Frozen Charging Dock
You can usually get the product working again with a quick device reset, and the steps to do this are slightly different depending on the product.
MEATER Block
Try a simple battery pull using the following steps:
- Take the AA batteries out of the dock.
- Leave the batteries out for a full minute.
- Put the batteries back in.
If this doesn't get everything working normally again, follow the factory reset steps below:
- Put all 4 probes in the dock.
- Make sure the probes are in the correct numbered order.
- Make sure MEATER Block is switched on.
- Hold down the settings button (the gear icon) on the touchpad for 15 seconds until the "Erase All Settings?" prompt appears.
- Select "Yes".
- Wait for the check mark to appear next to all 4 probes on the screen.

Try a short press of the pinhole button using the following steps:
- Put all 4 probes in the dock.
- Make sure the probes are in the correct numbered order.
- Insert something small (like a pin or a paperclip) into the hole in the back of the dock.
- Push the item in until there's a click.
- Hold this in place for 1-3 seconds.
- Wait for the check mark to appear next to all 4 probes on the screen.
